Water - a basic Necessity

Water is the basis of life and our Khangsten lacks this most basic human need.

We often completely run out of water, which poses a severe threat to the health of our monks, particularly the children and older members of our community. This is the biggest problem our Khangsten faces and YOU can help us solve it.

We desperately need to upgrade our water supply, but do not have the resources to do so.

Smaller 3,000 X 2 (= 6,000) liters tanks have been completed on the new premises’ rooftops, and we have dug wells.
Each monk uses the tap about 4 times a day, so that means that it is visited an average of 4200 times every week.

Cleanliness is an intrinsic part of daily life for a monk, but during holiday periods it is necessary for them to engage in additional washing and cleaning for ritualistic purposes. This puts further strain upon our extremely limited facilities.

New Water Tank

We are now planning to build of a proper 50,000 liters water tank like the one you see pictured to the left, to help us to stay healthy and keep clean.

This would also enable us to create a garden with organic vegetables and fruit and become more self-reliant!

We hope to build this Over-Head-Water Tank to improve the water supply to our Khangtsen.

The planned for capacity is 50000 litres (costing approximately 900000 Rupees).
