Sera Jey Ngari Khangtsen - Welcome!

Help Needed- Prayer Hall

When Sera Jey Ngari Khangtsen was established in South India, there were only 35 monks who lived in just 8 rooms.
No assembly prayer hall existed.

Back then two of the rooms served both as monks’ accommodation-cum-prayer hall.
In 1983 we could finally build a small Assembly Hall of the 24’ x 19’size and with this we built 8 new rooms. It was built to house 50 monks.

Today, we have over 150 monks ranging from the very young to the very old. And we have definately outgrown the old prayerhall. On hot summer days, the hall just does not accomodte enough oxygen for the number of praying and reciting participants!

A new prayer- and assembly-hall is planned for. This will accomodate more than 150 monks. This hall will be the last of the projects commenced in June 2008. The cost of the prayer/assemby-hall is estimated to be around 32 million Rupees.

Approximate exchange rate: 1000 Rupees = 23 USD and/or 14 € and/or 11 GBP

We have started collecting funds also for a new prayerhall, and any donations to that affect will be appreciated.
