Sera Jey Ngari Khangtsen - Welcome!

The Purpose of Buddhist Studies

...is to maintain and expand peace and harmony, create goodness in human beings and to promote a sense of responsibility.

Living a monastic lifestyle allows monks to encounter as few distractions as possible, so they can concentrate on learning for the benefit of all sentient beings.
We also help the world in other ways, by:

  • making ancient teachings accessible
  • maintaining a repository of centuries of knowledge
  • helping others on the path to enlightenment
  • maintaining the Tibetan culture.

This site represents Sera Jey Ngari Khangtsen which is one of the sixteen Houses of Sera Jey Monastic University, located in the oldest Tibetan refugee camp in India, Bylakuppe, State of Karnataka, South India.
